Mommy Note - Maria spent two days writing this story on her computer. The only altering done was a run through spell check and now it is here for you to enjoy. Mind you she reads a lot but this is pretty creative for a 7 year old. I really don't know how she comes up with this.

The Four Hidden Gems

One morning, Vanessa Hawkins was having breakfast, until a feeling struck her. She was always worried about bumping in to the most strong and popular girl in the whole high school, Gabriella White. She always got mad and yelled. '' Vanessa, It's quarter till eight, start getting ready for school,'' Mom called. Vanessa shot right up from her seat. She started making her lunch. '' Acho!'' sneezed Vanessa’s' brother, Spencer. He had the flu. Vanessa just ignored. '' Vanessa, dear, only ten more minutes. Get ready or you're going to be late, and I know you don't.'' Mom called. Soon, Vanessa was all ready. Her Mom came down the hallway.'' Do you have everything?'' her Mom asked, tilting her head.'' Yes Mom'', grumbled Vanessa, rolling her eyes. '' Make sure you have your-'' '' Time to go!'' interrupted Vanessa. She had her own car and license. She slammed the car door shut. In no time, Vanessa was at school. She walked slowly so she didn’t bump into Gabriella. Then she was at her locker. There was a note that said;
Come to Rock Mountain before Halloween, to find four ancient gems. If you fail, the world will vanish. The world can only survive with the power of the gems. Your body starts to tingle when you are close to one.

Vanessa immediately closed the letter. It was almost Halloween. Only twelve days away. Just then, the bell rang. Ding, ding, ding. '' Hi, Vanessa,'' said Hayly Gamer, Vanessa’s best friend. They were in the same class. '' Hayly, look at this. When I opened my locker, there was this note!'' Vanessa exclaimed.

Hayly read it quickly. '' Oh no, Rock Mountain. I've been there before. You have a great chance of dying.'' breathed Hayly.

Were going to be late for school.'' said Vanessa. Her and Hayly were never late or absent once.

'' Noah, keep your hand down till were finished with morning business'', said Mr. Beal. Sometimes Mr. Beal was strict. Vanessa was bored all day. '' Hayly and Vanessa, please go get your backpacks, and do not talk!'' called Mr. Beal over all the yelling and screaming. Then school was over. Vanessa went straight home to change into ragged clothes. She grabbed the note and ran straight to her car. Soon she was at Rock Mountain. Nobody was there. There were lots of screeches. Vanessa went farther into the forest. Then she saw Rock Mountain, and it really looked like rock. Maybe I should call Hayly, thought Vanessa. She reached in her pocket and dialed 55548769. Soon, Hayly came straight to Rock Mountain. '' Vanessa, let's start looking for those gems!'' said Hayly. Hayly zoomed to Rock Mountain. '' Were close to a gem, because I feel sort of...... tingly, said Vanessa in a shaky voice. '' Oh my gosh! A blue gem!'' exclaimed Hayly, holding the blue gem. It looks beautiful, thought Vanessa. She and Hayly went farther into the forest. '' The Swamp of Death,'' said Hayly, freezing. ''We have to JUMP!!'' screamed Vanessa. Her and Hayly jumped as far as they possibly could. '' I feel tingly again'', said Vanessa. '' Hayly, find sticks, and I'll find rocks, cause we might find a gem in the ground.'' Vanessa told Hayly. When they both came back, they started digging. '' Wow!'' said Vanessa, her eyes wide. '' Another gem'', said Hayly. '' Feel tingly again'', said Vanessa. OO! AA! '' A monkey. It might have another gem''. mumbled Vanessa. '' Ouch''! yelled Vanessa, loudly. '' We have one more gem to find''! said Hayly. The last one was in a tree. '' We found all the gems!'' exclaimed Vanessa. She opened the note. It now said: Congratulations! Go back home and you will find a surprise. You have saved the world by finding the four ancient gems. Vanessa got back in her car. By the front door of her house, there was a ruby, sapphire and diamond.
